Grades 3-5 started 3 vs. 3 touch (one hand or two) football today. It's a very modified verison of football that includes 1 QB, 1 WR, and 1 Center who hikes the ball (then becomes a WR). The offense has 4 downs to get a touchdown. Fields are about 30 yards long. If the offense does not score, the defense receives the ball on a kickoff. Football is a very unfamilar sport for many children. We were able to work through a lot of the confusion today so hopefully tomorrow will flow better.
Grades k-2 played a game called California rules football. This is a game where one player kicks off to the other, they pick up the ball and run trying to avoid being touched before crossing the white line. This game focuses on juking and avoiding taggers. After one attempt the two players switch jobs. Football will continue to run through Friday. After Columbus Day weekend we are hoping to do our fall timed run and then begin lacrosse.
