After a break from yesterday from basketball and volleyball, all classes returned to their respective unit. Students playing basketball worked on one-on-one skills, including dribbling, defense, and shooting.
Students playing volleyball in grades 3-5 began controlled games. I say controlled because it's a game format, but we work on serving and trying to get three hits before sending it over. This gets the students away from just hitting it over at random. This can be difficult for many students as they have to try and direct passes to their teammates instead of randomly hitting it. In the next few days we will begin mini games of 3 vs. 3 or 4 vs. 4. Games are timed for 4 minutes. Team leading after 4 minutes wins. Then they rotate to play a new team. For grades K-2 we continue to work on basic skills with the emphasis more on just getting a beach ball or balloon (K) over the net. Be advised: For those parents of 4th and 5th grade intramural students, intramurals with Coach Bruce is cancelled today. Coach Bruce hopes to get healthy to continue with tomorrow. Thanks!
