Sorry for the lack of blog posts the last couple of days. The website was down and I was unable to edit any information including blog posts.
Students with Coach Kiefer and Coach Bruce continue with floor hockey, They will soon be starting a floor hockey tournament for the older elementary grades. Students with Mr. Haller continue with basketball. We have focused our attention on dribbling, shooting, and some classes have started passing. For shooting, we talk about shooting from the front of our bodies with the younger kids. Do to their lack of strength they often try to shoot from over their shoulder or the old fashion "potty" shot. For grades K & 1 I simply say shoot from the front of your body and shoot by bending your knees. The hoop heights range from 6 feet to 8 feet for grades K-2. These grades also use playground balls due to their light weight. For the older grades we talk more about keeping your elbow in when shooting and a "candy cane" finish. Ask them what I mean by these terms.
