Students in Mr. Haller's classes (except kindergarten) began playing hockey games today. Grade 1 students played 4 vs 4 with no goalies. Students in grades 2-5 play 5 vs 5 with goalies. We setup two "rinks" in the MP room and play sideways. Rinks are divided by mats. We play the short way so students do not have to spend half their PE time sitting out while 2 teams play the long way. Kindergarten students hit the pucks back and forth across the gym trying to see how many goals their team can score in 3 minutes. I am stressing how to hold the stick correctly, how to swing safely, and hand-eye coordination.
Students in Mr. Bruce's and Mrs. Keifer's classes continued with volleyball. Students in grades 3-5began a round robin tournament. Results are recorded and standings kept. Teams consists of three or four. Ask your child who their teammates are! Students in grades k-2 played games but used a balloon.
