We moved indoors this week to begin or annual Fitness Week! Students work in groups of 4 through 15 different fitness stations. They spend 2 minutes at each station before a horn signals each group to move up to the next one. Stations are intended to work different muscles of the body and improve cardio. Stations include:
1) Aeorbic steppers 2) Medicine balls 3) Pull up bars 4) Grades 3-5 Stacking cup races to improve hand-eye coordination Grades K-2 Manipulating salad tongs by plucking toy frogs out of a box (improves fine motor skills) 5) Ab rollers (K-2 just steer them around; Grades 3-5 attempt to use them correctly) 6) 2 & 3 pound weights (walking with them, lifting them, curling them) 7) Vertical jump 8) Pushup bars 9) Tug of War 10) Duck walkers (for balance) 11)Jump rope 12) Hula Hoop 13) Stability balls 14) Agility ladders 15) Broad jump Students will work through these stations Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday we will take a break from these stations and play a game. Note: Last week Coach Bruce sent home intramural signup forms for grades 4 & 5. Students could choose to take a signup sheet. If your child would like to participate, please return the form to your classroom teacher.
