Day 3 of the 16 fitness stations was our last. Tomorrow being election day, we will be allowing the students to vote between 3 different activities. What are they? I'll let the kids tell you all about when they arrive home tomorrow after school!
Reminder that Thursday is a half day of school for parent-teacher conferences. Dismissal will be 15 minutes earlier than our usual half day dismissal time at 11:30. This makes dismissal time Tuesday at 11:15. The reason behind this is schools must practice an emergency early release drill before winter. Have a good night!

Science Night is tonight from 5:30-7:30 for those students and their parents in grades 3-5. It's a great night of learning and family fun! Hope to see you there!
Today students participated in 16 fitness stations. These 16 stations are, for the most part, different than the previous 16 stations from last week. Our goal is to work different muscle groups, improve hand-eye coordination, or improve fluid movement skills at each station. Just like last week, we will work through these stations for the next few days. The stations include:
1 - Aerobic steps with 2 or 3 pound weights 2 - Side ways pushups 3 - Hula Hoops 4- Exercise dice 5- Wobblers and Balance Masters 6- Spooners 7- Pull up bar 8 - Vertical jump 9- Large cup stacking 10 - Buddy walkers 11 - Pilates 12 - Jump rope (Weighted jump rope for grades 3-5) 13 - Running man contest 14 - Falling sticks 15 - Tetherball 16- Tug-of-War What a beautiful November day! We were able to bring all classes outside today. They arrived wearing coats and quickly removed them after some running around.
We did a student favorite today. It's called a fitness hunt. It's a combination of the games Memory and a Scavenger Hunt, with some exercise thrown in. Students get in groups of 4 with a list of pictures they need to find. The pictures are hidden under cones. Students run around the field lifting cones trying to locate each picture. However, also under the cones were exercises that needed performing if that particular cone was listed. It's a great game for cardio exercise, working as a team in a group, and following directions. Ask your child if they enjoyed the fitness hunt today! Well, Mother Nature didn't cooperate today. As I mentioned yesterday we planned on going outside. The temperature was way too cold early in the morning and just never rose enough for students to be comfortable enough outside. We stayed inside today with hopes of getting outdoors tomorrow.
Today we played Sink the Ship. Check out the video below to see how it's played. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wFE8kR9qCQ Have a good night! |
