It's hot! All PE classes plan on being outdoors these last few days of school. Please be sure to apply sunscreen to your child before they leave home! Thanks!

This week students have been given free choice at PE. They can choose from a variety of activities including kickball, soccer, slingshots, flying discs, parachutes (both small and large), and many other activities. Ask them what they prefer to play with this week! These choices will remain the same for tomorrow and Friday!
What about Thursday? Thursday is our Field Day 2016! For grades K-2 it will run from 9:00 to 11:00 am. For grades 3-5 it will run from 12:00-2:00. Activities for Field Day are unknown by students! It's top secret! Homeroom teachers need a parent volunteer or two to make Field Day happen! Ask your child's homeroom teacher if help is still needed! It's tough to play flying disc games and badminton in wind like today. Due to the high winds we stayed indoors today. We played Sinkerball, a new game introduced last week.
Ask them about their time playing Sinkerball! https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/answer-sheet/wp/2016/06/07/the-government-says-kids-need-an-hour-of-movement-a-day-actually-they-need-a-lot-more/

Today we began a week long (weather dependent) unit called "Barb-b-que Games," also known as "Summer Games". These 11 different games are games that are often associated with summer, warm weather, picnics, and family gatherings. They include:
Badminton Korn Hole Horseshoes Bocce Ball Croquet Washer Toss Jarts (Not the dangerous Jarts we played as kids, same concept, just safer Jarts) Ladder Ball Can Jam Fristi Polish Horse Shoes Ask your child about which games they played! We stayed indoors today due to the threat of rain, which never came. We played a new game called Sinkerball. Ask your child how to play!
